Wolf Awareness Week - October 12-18
This week is National Wolf Awareness Week. Every third week of October marks this celebration, and organizations around the country dedicate the week to informing people about wolves and their importance within the ecosystem and our planet.
Ever since I was a little girl I was enthralled with the wolf. Jack London novels - White Fang and Call of the Wild - were my favorite books for years. Our family pet was a beautiful brown-eyed Siberian Husky - Thor - who to me, was our own little wolf.

What has been happening to the wolf over the last several decades is heartbreaking. If we aren't careful, these beautiful creatures could be wiped out. Unfortunately, myth rather than fact has been driving much of people's perceptions of the wolf, and so, the most important thing we can do is educate ourselves. Here is a great resource that separates fact from fiction when it comes to wolves.
